Project Overview

The GROOVE project is funded by the Belgian Digital Agency (ADN) under the Walloon Region's 5G pilot call, and carried out by a consortium coordinated by AWLabs, with Proximus, ECAM and Multitel.

The Challenge

Durbuy is one of Wallonia’s most beloved tourist destinations, but with so many visitors, keeping the city comfortable and healthy is no small feat. City leaders wanted a better way to understand what was happening in real time—especially when it came to air quality and noise.

The Solution

Together with AWLabs, we at SPEAR rolled up our sleeves and built a digital twin of Durbuy. We set up smart sensors around the city to keep an eye on air quality and sound levels, all connected through lightning-fast 5G with Proximus NXT. The data flows into an interactive platform that city officials can use to spot issues and make quick, informed decisions.

Now, Durbuy has a clear, real-time picture of its environment. City teams can act fast to keep things running smoothly, residents enjoy a better quality of life, and tourists get to experience the city at its best.
